Infinite Blue - July 2021 Update

Happy July! We will now be doing more detailed monthly updates on the progress of Infinite Blue. So, here’s where we’re at now!

Art

CGs: We have our official CG artist, Vaniraa, working on some pieces for the common route. These are going to be the introductory photos for the main six characters. There’s currently three complete, with three more to go!

Sprites - Our sprite artist, Tsukkiusa, is working hard on getting the sprites of the main six finished. There will be two poses each, with at least six expressions per pose (we’ll probably need more down the road). The sprites currently have their line art and base colors done, they just need shading! Here’s a look at Rory’s sheet with his initial expressions.

Backgrounds - We have 8 completed backgrounds from our artist, Karel Kok. Each character will have at least three BGs specific to their route, with a few extras here and there. Take a look at Crescent Café, where one of the characters works!

Writing

The common route and 5/6 main routes are written, with only Rory’s left to go. After that, we’ll set aside the scripts for later editing, and move on to writing the demo.

Programming/UI

Very soon we’ll be looking for someone to do the UI. The screens will be more complicated due to the chat/phone/texting features, so it’ll require a bit of thought! As for programming, that will begin once the writing is done. We’ll need someone to help with some of the more difficult aspects, such as getting the chat feature up and running.

What’s to come

Once the sprites are finished, we’ll get the character profiles ready to go, followed by graphics for a website and a potential newsletter.

Also, please look forward to a demo release! The demo will be a fun side story separate from the main game. The idea is to give a sense of how the chat system works, and to get to know the characters. We don’t have a release date for this yet, but stay tuned.
